Essential Oil Safety Guidelines: In general, commonly available essential oils are safe to use for aromatherapy or household purposes. However, due to their high concentration and potency it is important to be aware of the following safety information that applies to all of our oils.

A skin patch test should be conducted prior to using any essential oil. This is to determine if you may be allergic or have a sensitization reaction to the oil.

1) Keep all essential oils out of the reach of children and pets.
2) Pregnant women and persons with health problems must consult a doctor.
3) Some oils are not suitable for babies or young children. Consult a trained professional for safety information.
3) Essential oils should never be used undiluted on the skin.
4) Essential oils should not be taken internally.
5) Products made with natural ingredients may still cause allergic reactions.

How to use these essential oils:

Liquid Soap – Essential oils can be added to any unscented base product.  Add essential oils or blend.  Essential oils are very potent and a little bit goes a long way.  Start by adding 50 - 60 drops of essential oil per 8 oz. of liquid soap.  Be sure to check the essential oil safety precautions about the essential oils.

Inhalation – You can add 1-2 drops of an essential oil on a tissue and inhale.

Diffuser – Add 6-10 drops of an essential oil or essential oil blend to an aromatherapy diffuser or simply add to a heated pan of water on the stove.

Disinfectant Spray – Add 50 drops of an essential oil or essential oil blend to

an 8 oz. spray bottle.  Fill the remainder of the bottle with distilled water.  Most spray bottles of this size will be plastic.  Plastic spray bottles can be used for this application.  However, remember the oils will erode the plastic bottle in time.  Be sure to check the essential oil safety precautions about the essential oils.  Some sources recommend adding more essential oils, however, the 50-75 drops should be sufficient.
