Incense Tips When working with resins such as frankincense and myrrh it works well if you place the resins in the freezer for a short while before beating them. Some people use blenders to grind the resins/ingredients into fine powder, however, this destroys the scent of the resins. It is best to beat all ingredients by hand in the mortar and pestle. It takes longer but the results will be worth the extra effort. Grind or beat each ingredient separately. Blend all dry ingredients first and then add the soft resins such as galbanum and storax. Onycha – To work with onycha, break it into smaller pieces by hand before beating in the mortar and pestle. The onycha must be ground into a very fine powder in order to blend with the other ingredients. If you are working with Onycha Oil (Benzoin) treat it as a soft resin. Use gloves to mix/knead the incense ingredients together. Allow the freshly made incense to cure prior to burning. Cleaning – Grain or Denatured Alcohol works well to clean the mortar and pestle. When burning the incense it is best to wait until the charcoal is very hot (changes color) before sprinkling the incense on it.
Revelation 8:3-4
And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
