Oil Name: Spikenard Scientific Name: Nardostachys jatamansi Country of Origin: Nepal (Organic) Distillation Method: Steam Distilled From Dried and Crushed Rhizome and Roots. Safety: A
The Green Spikenard is superior to the Brown or Red Spikenard. Note that American Spikenard Aralia racemosa is not the Spikenard mentioned in the Bible.
In the Bible, Spikenard is the oil used by Mary to anoint Jesus' feet a few days before his death. It was a much valued Biblical perfume and was very costly.
Spikenard does not smell like a sweet perfume that has been advertised and sold in many book and gift stores. To appreciate the medicinal and natural perfume properties this oil contains it is necessary to study the history and culture of Biblical times.
This year it has been difficult to get a high quality spikenard oil. We have once again procured a very nice spikenard. It has a green blue color and a beautiful light touch of floral, herbal, earthy-musky aroma. Many of the spikenard oils currently available on the market are missing the the light floral aspect and green blue color.
Therapeutic Properties - External Use Only Anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antispasmodic, sedative. Spikenard may help ease anxiety, relax the mind and is a great skin care oil.
